Barbara Bates- Co-Founder & Principal, Eastwick Communications
Barbara is one of Eastwick’s three founding members. A redhead through and through, Barb isn’t shy about making her opinions heard and is known among her clients and colleagues as always offering sound counsel, creative ideas and aggressive, proactive outreach strategies to meet PR objectives. Barb’s broad market experience covers all things technology-related, from chips to networking to enterprise software and everything in between. Her claim to fame is helping companies reach their highest potential by applying the right strategy, creativity and passion to major launches, initiatives and overall corporate visibility.

Barb’s unparalleled mix of strategic counsel, editorial and analyst know-how, and skill at telling a great story came from her early years as a corporate communications executive and a television news reporter. Prior to founding Eastwick Communications 15 years ago, Barb was vice president of The Benjamin Group’s Northern California operation and held executive positions in corporate communications at Acuson and GE Calma. On occasion, she draws on her experience as a black jack dealer to make the right bet for her clients!

J. Christopher Roe- CTO, Qtrax
With over ten years of IT management experience within the media industry, Chris is a technology leader having served in a diverse range of positions and companies. His early leadership experience as an Outward Bound instructor andSearch and Rescue Wilderness EMT provided Chris with the perfect foundation to manage the strategic development of IT in support of corporate objectives.

As an Executive Producer for Vivendi Universal, AOL, IBM and USA Networks Chris was responsible for the management and implementation of technology initiatives directly relating to corporate communications and public relations.

As Chief Information Officer of NewYorkCity.com Chris provided the technology vision and leadership essential to developing and implementing web initiatives that improved cost effectiveness, service quality, and business development in a constantly changing competitive marketplace.

In his current position as Chief Technology Officer within an international music portal, Chris manages multiple information and communication systems across a global network. Along with his proven track record of success, he brings a passion for web 2.0-driven technology solutions to his current position.

Mark Lau- Sr. Relationship Manager, SVB Silicon Valley Bank
Mark Lau is a senior relationship manager based in Pleasanton, California, for Silicon Valley Bank’s San Francisco and East Bay offices. For the past five years, Lau has run one of the six technology lending teams for the company in the Bay Area. Focusing primarily on venture-backed software and services companies, Lau provides specialized debt financing, commercial banking products, venture capital assistance and international financing and products for his technology clients.

Prior to joining SVB in early 2004, Lau was vice president for GATX Ventures, Inc., a unit of GATX Capital, that provides venture debt financing to start-up technology and life science companies across the U.S. and Canada. In this role, Lau was responsible for transaction and portfolio management, credit analysis and underwriting and managing the risk assessment process.

Previously, Lau served as senior manager and management consultant with KPMG LLP’s credit risk management group in San Francisco, and as a bank examiner for the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of the Currency.

Lau earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from San Diego State University. He served as a board member and treasurer for East Bay Habitat for Humanity from 1998 to 2002. Lau is currently a member of the Investment Committee for the Diocese of Oakland and is a board member of the Entrepreneurs Foundation of the Capital Region.

Fredrick Mendler- Vice President, Rackspace
Frederick Mendler is responsible for Rackspace's Managed Service Level segment. It is his job to ensure Fanatical Support® is a reality for Rackspace customers and to provide the right tools and environment for Rackspace employees to deliver it. Mendler takes pride in building teams of dedicated and enthusiastic Rackers and enabling and empowering them to perform fanatically for their customers.

Initially a marketing consultant working with Rackspace, Mendler was exposed to the culture of Fanatical Support. In January 2003 he joined the company as an Account Manager. His gift and passion for customer service was immediately apparent. With his ability to support both Rackspace customers and employees he quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the Director of Fanatical Support and, ultimately, Vice President, Fanatical Support—Managed.

Prior to joining Rackspace, Mendler held management positions with several customer service focused national retailers, as well as positions with a variety of public relations and marketing firms working on high-tech accounts.

Mendler graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Mass Communications.

Saumitra Das- President, adEngageNow
Saumitra is an experienced engineering executive and entrepreneur. His background includes building enterprise-class products for 20+ years at companies including Microsoft, Netscape, AOL and various startups.

Saumitra built four generations of the industry leading iPlanet application server through three M&As. Over the last ten years, Saumitra has built multi-shore R&D centers for large companies such as Sun and AOL, and for the startups he had founded. At Teneros, with funding from NEA and SRF, Saumitra built an application continuity appliance for MS Exchange.

Saumitra has a number of patents related to high availability and distributed aspects of server products. Saumitra holds a BS degree in Electrical and Electronics from BITS Pilani and MS in Computer Science from IIT Kanpur.

Mark Richards – President, Moyo Group
Mark is president of Moyo Group, an IT services firm helping venture-funded companies with outsourced IT and implementation of finance and manufacturing software systems. He has spent 27 years developing and deploying IT strategies and solutions for Silicon Valley companies. Over the last 15 years he served as CIO and IT Director for several fast-growing companies.

Mark was a member of the founding management team at Corio (acquired by IBM). As VP of IT Consulting for Corio, he created and managed the CIO Services practice, the Program Office, and led pioneering projects to deliver enterprise applications through the ASP/SaaS model. Prior to Corio, he was Director of IT Outsourcing for DSCI.
